The lounge chair is part of Sika-Design’s exclusive ICONS collection, which represents relaunched design furniture from some of the world’s largest and most renowned designers. Rana is a lounge chair designed by Nanna Ditzel, one of Denmark’s most innovative female designers and the creator of the iconic hammock chair, The Hanging Egg. Nanna Ditzel’s experimental approach to materials, based on the body, resulted in one of the first bids for a cohesive chair. The three-legged wicker chair was the catalyst for the rediscovery of rattan’s many properties, and, with international awards won, wicker furniture regained its status in interior design.

Rana Lounge Chair is suitable for the ordinary home and cottage, and its detailed windings make it a cozy element in the room. The chair is handmade in sustainable Indonesian rattan by skilled basket makers. Sika-Design uses carefully selected rattan for furniture production to ensure the highest quality. Rattan is often compared to bamboo, but unlike bamboo, which is hollow, rattan is solid. Rattan is a remarkably strong and indestructible material, so you get a unique piece of furniture that can last for generations.

• Each chair is handmade using the finest Malacca cane rattan
• Rattan is strong, lightweight, flexible, and durable. Rattan is a natural climbing plant that grows in the Indonesian rainforest, without disturbing the existing structure and balance in the rainforest.
• The rattan frame will weather over time to a silvery patina, and if the original natural rattan look is desired, rub it with linseed oil.
